After 22 years in the trade and now entering our sixteenth year with Dulux Select Decorators we at AMD Decor decided that this was the year we would enter the “Dulux Decorator of the year competition”

This Prestigious award is run nationwide by Dulux and allows members of the scheme to showcase their high standards of work that are carried out on private dwellings.

Winning the award is a fantastic accolade for AMD Decor and is the icing on the cake as to what has been a fantastic year, taking on many challenging interior and exterior projects.

The home we chose to enter was an exterior project in Coulsdon, Surrey which was carried out in the three good weeks of weather in March 2012. The competition was run all throughout 2012 and a winning entry chosen and announced at the Dulux Christmas ball held on the 26th January 2013.
The transformation of this home was truly amazing and an absolute pleasure to work on. This is the homeowner’s statement...

“As the home owner, we moved in to a home with very poor repair, with the external appearance of the house appearing to passersby as a derelict house (from more than one). Whist we did consider new windows, both uPVC and timber but the cost of timber windows ran into tens of thousands and uPVC would loose all the historical character of the house.

“Having met with several tradesmen offering advice and costs on either replacing or reconditioning the existing windows, we chose Adrian at AMD Decor based on his confidence that proper preparation and treatment of the windows could extend the life of the windows into the distant future together with his professional but no pressure sales approach, (i.e. willing to commit to a duration of the project, offer suggestions on keeping costs down, etc).

“We have worked with several tradesmen working both on this and other homes and Adrian’s work ethic is a model approach, simply turning up on time, grafting hard and keeping on top of mess and waste sound like obvious small things, but is something sadly lacking from the UK workforce- Adrian restored my faith in hiring British craftsmen.

“Having spotted things that were needed, but that I’d missed out of my scope of work, Adrian dealt with them with no fuss and no hassle, making best value of having hired extensive scaffolding. In addition Adrian offered sound advice on improving our home security, gave me my options then dealt with it all, including the fitting.

“After three weeks of great weather Adrian’s commitment to finishing the job in the agreed timescale was put at risk when the weather changed, it was only his personal commitment and his eye for quality that got the job finished to an exceptionally high standard.

“Now people walk past our home and point and marvel at our home, it is beautiful and made all the more so by its renovation. My wife loves the change this highly sustainable approach has made to our home. Adrian is a fantastic advertisement for the value Dulux can bring to your home”
